Memory Research Group Conference and Launch Afternoon

Join us for an afternoon of short presentations, discussion, memory-related art and other activities.

With Key Note Speaker, Professor Fiona Gabbert:

Professor Fiona Gabbert is director of the Forensic Psychology Unit at Goldsmiths, University of London. She has a hugely successful track record of research in Eyewitness Memory and Investigative interviewing, and has spent many years working with stakeholders in order to help communicate and translate what she has learned in that research to everyday practices within the police and judicial systems in Scotland, the rest of the UK and worldwide. The way she puts it is straightforward, ‘I am interested in the strengths and weaknesses of human memory. Much of my research has real-world application, focusing on Eyewitness Memory, Investigative Interviewing, and Suggestibility.’

Fiona is a lauded science communicator as well – her team were awarded the Corp Comms magazine ‘Best Communications By A Public Sector Organisation’ award for ‘The Death of Jane Doe: The Psychology of a Murder Investigation’. The January 2016 event was the first of a series of exciting immersive theatre events including ‘Rock around the Dock’, and ‘Top of the Cops! Murder on the Dancefloor’
