What is an ePortfolio?

This site is for both staff and students and will provide you with information about QMU’s ePortfolio.

Using a portfolio to keep a record of achievements is not a new practice, for example artists use a portfolio to keep a collection of their work to demonstrate their range of artistic abilities. The QMU ePortfolio is an electronic tool that provides a space for you to record, store and structure a collection of your evidence that will demonstrate your learning achievements and abilities. This may be a reflective account of a practice placement or may be a concept map or a presentation that you have produced. It may simply be a reflective account of your learning experience when working in a group or an account of your thoughts while developing an aspect of your learning.

An ePortfolio helps with:

  • Keeping documents together to evidence your learning at QMU.
  • Reflecting on your learning.
  • Remembering to think about personal development planning – what do you need to do next to help you progress in your chosen career?
  • Preparing for an interview.
  • Developing a CV

You should think of your QMU ePortfolio as a beginning to recording your lifelong learning in support of your career development as, when you leave QMU, you can take the content of your ePortfolio with you, saving it either to a memory stick or to a CD-ROM, or continue to access the ePortfolio at QMU.
